SPARTANBURG SC (FEBRUARY 20, 2019) – OTO Development, part of The Johnson Group, has appointed Denise Beers-Kiepper as Vice President of Human Resources. She is tasked with leading and developing the Spartanburg-based hotelier’s human resources team, which supports ~2,400 employees across the country.
OTO recruited Beers-Kiepper through a nationwide search for not only human resources expertise but also entrepreneurial spirit. This HR veteran certainly fits the bill, with a diverse background in business, human capital strategy and organizational development at companies ranging from tech start-up to Fortune 500.
“We are delighted to add Denise’s breadth and depth of experience to our leadership team,” says Corry Oakes, President/CEO of OTO Development, a company certified as a Great Place to Work as well as a Platinum Fit-Friendly Worksite. “Her proven ability to foster high-performing teams is a definite asset as OTO moves forward with ambitious growth strategies.”
An alumna of The Ohio State University, Beers-Kiepper has spent 20+ years creating positive cultures and impacting organizational success. She joins OTO from MadDog Technology, a start-up focused on Cloud-based platforms designed to improve business revenue; prior to that, she was Senior Vice President of Regional Human Resources at Fifth Third Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States.
Beers-Kiepper’s most recent career move was inspired by OTO’s Guiding Principles – integrity, partnership, humility, principled entrepreneurship, initiative and fulfillment – which inform how the company makes decisions and executes strategies.
“It’s a privilege to work with an organization whose principles match my own,” she says. “I look forward to building upon the strong OTO brand to recruit, grow and retain top talent while becoming the destination employer within the hospitality industry.”
As a hotel developer and hospitality management company, OTO Development offers on-property positions – management, sales, operations, food service and facilities engineering – along with corporate functions such as IT, eCommerce, revenue management and accounting/finance. Other opportunities within OTO include real estate, development and construction management. The company provides competitive pay and a full array of benefits such as health insurance, wellness incentives, industry training, career development and tuition reimbursement.
