GARDEN CITY, NY (May 5, 2020) – Hotel development and management company OTO Development announces the leadership team for its new Residence Inn by Marriott Long Island Garden City. Allison Mitchell is the new general manager and Samira Clarke the director of sales.
“We always strive to build strong teams at our hotels, and I am confident with their experience and market knowledge, Allison and Samira will be tremendous leaders in Garden City,” said Corry Oakes, president and CEO of OTO Development.
The Spartanburg, SC-based hotelier is partnering with Roosevelt Field owner Simon Properties on the development of the hotel, adding 163 brand new, spacious studio and one-bedroom suites to the popular retail complex.
Mitchell comes to the property from the SpringHill Suites LaGuardia, where she served as general manager.
“We couldn’t have a better location to open the only Residence Inn in Nassau County, and we are so excited to show everyone what we have to offer,” Mitchell said. “It’s been a thrill to see the project come together, and the anticipation just keeps building in these final few weeks before opening.”
With nearly 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Mitchell has worked her way up the ladder in the industry, starting as a front desk associate before spending time as a reservation agent, conference services associate, sales manager, and director of sales.
Clarke brings her nearly 15 years of experience in the New York hotel industry, including most recently at OTO Development’s AC Hotel New York Times Square, to the new Residence Inn as the director of sales.
“I can’t wait to welcome our first guests and see their reactions to this new hotel,” Clarke said. “With our tremendous amenities and proximity to great attractions like Belmont Park, Jones Beach, Hofstra, and so many incredible golf courses – not to mention Roosevelt Field right next door – I’m excited to market the hotel.”
Prior to her time with OTO Development’s properties, Clarke built tremendous experience in the New York hotel industry with stints at the Courtyard Times Square West, Allegria Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Times Square Central, among others. She has served in a variety of roles, including front office coordinator, sales manager, and catering sales manager.
Conveniently located in the heart of Garden City, the all-new Residence Inn provides a spacious option for extended stay summer residents, weekend shopping travelers, event attendees at Nassau Coliseum, and anyone looking to get away for a few days or a few weeks. The hotel, at 700 Garden City Plaza, features complimentary hot breakfast daily, the Residence Inn Mix evening mixer, on-site laundry and dry-cleaning service, business center, fitness center, indoor pool, and free grocery delivery. The hotel will be pet friendly and is slated to open in late May.
