BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 3, 2018—Officials of Peachtree Hotel Group (PHG), one of the nation’s fastest growing hotel investment and management platforms, today announced the grand opening of the 204-room Doubletree by Hilton Birmingham Perimeter Park in Ala. The hotel recently completed a $13.5 million renovation to convert the former Hilton Perimeter Park to the Doubletree by Hilton brand.
“The hotel benefits from an outstanding location in the most populous city in Alabama, but was in need of certain improvements to better meet the needs of today’s business and leisure travelers,” said Mitul Patel, principal and COO, Peachtree Hotel Group. “Particularly with its room count and meeting space, we believe the market is better served by the Doubletree brand with the same high levels of service associated with all Hilton brands. Following the completion of this major renovation, the hotel will become one of the ‘newest’ Hilton products to enter Birmingham in the past few years.”
Located at 8 Perimeter Park South, on the HWY 280 corridor at I-459 in Birmingham, Alabama, the property is 12 miles away from Birmingham International Airport and is convenient to such area tourist attractions as the Birmingham Zoo, Oak Mountain State Park and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. The hotel is within walking distance to Southern Company's new corporate office as well. The property offers a business center and 10,000 sq. ft. of versatile event space, including a ballroom, outdoor patio and up to 16 meeting rooms able to accommodate 600 people. Other amenities include a fitness center and pool. In addition to a lobby bar and in-room dining, guests are able to eat at area restaurants, including Black Market Bar & Grill, Pablo’s Restaurant & Cantina and Perry’s Steakhouse.
The multi-million renovation improved all public and back-of-the-house areas. All guestrooms received new carpet, wall finishes, case goods, seating, drapery, 50″ televisions, artwork and lighting. Guest bathrooms were upgraded with a new sink and faucet, floor tiles, lighted vanity mirror, artwork, wallcoverings, tile shower surrounds with frameless glass shower doors, shower controls and barn door bathroom entry. Public corridors were outfitted with new carpet, wall coverings, artwork and lighting, while the meeting space and pre-function areas received new furnishings (tables/chairs/soft seating), ceilings and lighting, carpet, wallcoverings, artwork and updated AV controls/systems.
An entirely new front desk/registration area has been offset with a new focal wall. The lobby also received new floor tiling, soft seating, hard ceiling details with new lighting and business center upgrades. The lobby bar, featuring a fourteen-tap draft tower, has been relocated to better accommodate guest traffic flow, connecting seamlessly to the breakfast seating and the “Made Market,” a new optional F&B concept. Additionally, all technical and mechanical systems were upgraded, a new roof was added, and both the parking lot and landscaping were upgraded.
“This hotel marks our sixth hotel in Alabama, and we continue to seek additional opportunities in the state that meet our rigorous investment criteria moving forward,” Patel noted.
