Aug. 15–LAKE GEORGE — Canada Street will be home to a Courtyard Marriott hotel with a conference center, restaurant and retail space, which could be a reality as soon as early 2015.

Local developer Dave Kenny on Thursday unveiled plans for a six-story, 120-room hotel, which will cost an estimated $15 million in construction costs alone.

The hotel will be located just south of Lake George High School. Kenny over the years has amassed a number of parcels for a spot large enough to make a chain hotel in the village a reality.

The first floor includes a 5,500-square-foot restaurant space, four different retail areas, a main lobby, theater, bistro, exercise area and pool.

The conference area would be located on the second floor, with an upper lobby, a 7,500-square-foot ballroom and two break-out rooms, with the guest rooms on floors three through six.

Kenny submitted his plans to the village on Thursday, and must receive approval from the Planning Board. He is submitting plans concurrently to the Adirondack Park Agency, which must also sign off on the project in order for it to move forward.

The Village Board last month approved changing the code to allow for taller buildings in certain sections of the village, including the area where the hotel is slated to go, just north of the intersection of Canada and Amherst streets.
