The West Coast-Based Luxury Lifestyle Hospitality Brand Enters East Coast Market with Operation and Management of Historic Hamptons Resort
MONTAUK, NY – April 1, 2024 – Proper Hospitality today announces management and operations of Montauk Yacht Club, the historic 107-key luxury seaside resort and marina in The Hamptons owned by Safe Harbor Marinas. Joining The Collective – Proper Hospitality’s roster of independent hotels – Montauk Yacht Club will also debut a multimillion-dollar renovation, introducing refreshed facilities and a brand new dining experience upon the season opening this May.
Built in 1928 as a private social club, Montauk Yacht Club sits on 16 acres of resort grounds on Montauk’s Star Island within Lake Montauk. In this new chapter for the storied property under the leadership of Proper Hospitality, the resort will be a must-visit destination for luxury lifestyle travelers making their way to the East End. Proper Hospitality’s guidance ensures the forthcoming property will be a distinct reflection of the vibrant Montauk community, while introducing uncommon luxury, and world-class amenities including elevated dining, a focus on wellness, and updated indoor and outdoor spaces.
Most notable is the opening of Ocean Club Montauk, a new restaurant and bar helmed by Chef Jarad McCarroll, who prior to making his U.S. debut cooked in world-class kitchens including St. Barths’ Hotel Le Toiny, Chiltern Firehouse, and The Ritz London. Taking a cue from its Caribbean counterpart Ocean Club St. Barths, the new restaurant will feature an elevated menu of just-caught seafood, seasonal and local produce that celebrates the best of the East Coast, and new dishes from the restaurant’s wood-fired grill.
Montauk Yacht Club is also home to the largest marina in the Hamptons with more than 200 wet slips that can accommodate boats from small day cruisers to 300-foot superyachts. Welcoming private boats as well as guests of the hotel, the Yacht Club can facilitate day trips, fishing expeditions, and many other water excursions. Also at the Yacht Club, electric X-Shore boats serve as a ‘House Fleet’ at the ready for local transportation, sunset cruises, airport transfers, and more.
Further property updates debuting early this Summer are a refreshed fitness center and spa offerings; an all-day to-go café and indoor and outdoor bars; three pools; and tennis, pickleball, volleyball, and bocce courts.
Montauk Yacht Club will open in May 2024, with operations continuing into November at the seasonal property.
