MIAMI – Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and most dynamic hotel groups, joined Riviera Point Development Group to launch construction of the nation’s third – and Florida’s first — Radisson RED hotel, on a prime site in the Miami International Airport district.
Riviera Point Development Group, a South Florida pioneer in developing hotels and office complexes through job-creating federal EB-5 Immigrant Investor financing, is creating the 155-room hotel under Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s innovative Radisson RED flag. At completion in fall 2018, the 155-room hotel at 3401 NW 25 Street, Miami will be managed by Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group.
“We are pleased to bring Radisson RED to Miami, a diverse and vibrant destination that aligns very well with the brand’s DNA which is bold and alive. The Miami market presents a great deal of opportunity in attracting the ageless millennial minded traveler” said Javier Rosenberg, president, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “In addition, we are pleased to be working with Riviera Point on this project, an award winning and well respected developer who is committed to enhancing the communities it serves.”
The first Radisson RED locations are operating in Carlson Rezidor’s headquarter cities of Minneapolis and Brussels, Belgium, plus locations under construction around the world and in the Americas, including Portland, Oregon and Campinas, Brazil. The brand appeals to guests who have an ageless millennial mindset. Radisson RED Miami Airport’s design reflects its tech-savvy, millennial-focused approach, building flow between spaces and breaking down walls traditional hotels use to separate areas such as the lobby, restaurants, bars and meeting spaces. The hotel’s design by Modis Architects of Miami marries these spaces into an integrated, flowing ‘social hive.’
With a bold design highlighted by efficient, modern, yet functional furniture, the Radisson RED Miami Airport hotel will also feature the brand’s signature food and beverage outlet, OUIbar + KTCHN, a pool and fitness center, rooftop bar and lounge and multipurpose Events and Games Studios. The Radisson RED stay experience will be complemented by an app that provides keyless entry to rooms and enables guests to order food and services, plus stream wirelessly from their mobile device to the television.
Rodrigo Azpúrua, CEO of Riviera Point Development Group, said the $24 million Radisson RED Miami Airport is being fully funded through EB-5 financing – his firm’s fourth EB-5 project to date. “We see Miami’s travel and tourism market as strong and vibrant, now and for the long term,” said Azpúrua, who plans to build or acquire a total of 1500 hotel rooms in the next five years throughout Florida and the Southeastern states. “Every aspect of the Radisson RED brand is fresh and innovative in the upscale select-service segment. Combine that approach with Miami’s role as a global leisure destination and the business gateway to Latin America, and we are confident in the outlook for years to come.”
He noted that the Radisson RED Miami Airport is projected to create 280 jobs, meeting federal requirements for the project’s qualified EB-5 investors to secure permanent U.S. residency. For his firm’s future hotel projects, Azpúrua said the capital stack may include crowdsourcing as well as conventional and EB-5 financing.
