DENVER – June 28, 2021 – Today, Catbird – an independent hotel by Sage Hospitality Group opening July 2021 in Denver’s RiNo Art’s District – introduces General Manager Courtney Griffith and Director of Sales and Marketing Austin Cooper.
Griffith rejoins Sage Hospitality, bringing with her an abundance of hotel and restaurant openings, along with independent brand experience to the Catbird. Griffith has been a leader in hospitality for more than 20 years, most recently from Makeready Hotels, where she served in the role of director of operations at the Halcyon, a hotel in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. Notably, Griffith was a member of Halcyon’s opening leadership team under the management of Sage Hospitality Group. Prior to this, Griffith has held multiple hospitality leadership roles including senior operations manager at the Denver Marriott City Center; food and beverage learning coach for the JW Marriott Orlando Grand Lakes; and general manager of the Hampton Inn Denver Tech Center.
Griffith enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family. She’s often exploring Colorado through hiking, camping, backpacking, snowboarding, and urban homesteading with her husband Brennan and their three-year-old chocolate lab, Porter.
Cooper joins the Catbird team with 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Cooper has held various sales roles within Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Warwick Hotels & Resorts, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants and Aparium Hotel Group. He brings to Catbird an intimate knowledge of the boutique and lifestyle sector of hospitality, in addition to a passion for mentorship and team guidance.
Cooper received a bachelor of science in hotel, restaurant and institution management, with a minor in entrepreneurial studies from Iowa State University. Outside of hospitality, Cooper has experience in real estate and commercial property management, floral and event design, as well as within the ethanol industry procuring grain.
Under Griffith and Cooper’s direction, Catbird will foster a deep sense of belonging for guests and the community. Blurring the lines between hotel and home, the hotel’s 165 guest rooms, in addition to a four-bedroom historic home preserved as part of the hotel, feature full kitchens with high-end housewares, unique storage and custom-built, multi-functional furniture that provide comfortable, livable spaces for everything from a one-night stay to longer, extended stays. Additional home-away-from-home amenities include the Catbird Playroom – a gear locker stocked with bikes, cameras, musical instruments and much more – Catbird Kitchen for coffee and grab-and-go dining, complimentary laundry services, package delivery lockers, long-term storage, a dog run, a fitness center – even a plant rental program.
