Denver, CO (May 12, 2016) – Sage Hospitality is proud to announce that The Maven – a vibrant independent hotel concept – will open next spring in Dairy Block, Denver’s most innovative new urban development. Located on the corner of 19th & Wazee Streets, The Maven will anchor the mixed-used redevelopment of the Lower Downtown (LoDo) block that once housed the Windsor Dairy.
Developed by McWhinney, Grand American Inc. and Sage Hospitality, Dairy Block is designed to pay homage to the rich history of LoDo while creating a lively new community gathering place. The soul of Dairy Block will be The Alley – a lively micro-district that will run from 18th and 19th between Blake and Wazee Streets and house an eclectic mix of Colorado retailers, artisans, chefs and cocktail crafters.
The Maven will feature an energetic lobby designed by Brooklyn based design studio Crème, Jun Aizaki Architecture and Design. The lobby eliminates traditional boundaries, creating a unique connection between The Alley and the hotel, an inviting space that welcomes both locals and visitors. The Maven will celebrate local talents with a rotating collection of creative art and handmade products. Adjacent to the hotel will be Kachina Southwestern Grill, a second outpost of the popular modern southwestern grill by Sage Restaurant Group co-founder Peter Karpinski, as well as an additional restaurant concept.
The Maven’s 172 rich and modern guest rooms are being designed by JNS and will exhibit a rich color palette, Loft-style décor and the latest in hotel technology. The hotel will feature a 2,300 square foot ballroom with hardwood floors and a mixture of exposed brick and wood walls. One end of the ballroom will offer a stage and garage doors that open onto The Alley to host concerts and other events.
“The Maven will live on the Dairy Block as a community member, interacting with the retailers and engaging guests and locals year-round,” said Walter Isenberg, President and CEO of Sage Hospitality. “Maven means a trusted expert who seeks to pass knowledge on; we seek to curate adventures in Denver for our guests, beginning with Denver’s exciting Dairy Block.”
Dairy Block is located in the heart of LoDo, a short walk from Coors Field and the revitalized Denver Union Station. The development will also feature a six-story tower with 250,000 square feet of office space, 60,000 square feet of prime restaurant and retail space and a 394-car below-grade parking garage — all of which are being integrated with the three existing historic Windsor Dairy Block buildings.
Colorado’s Saunders Construction, Inc. is serving as the General Contractor for the entire project, which celebrated the topping out of construction on the office tower and hotel this week.
