(CHICAGO, IL; September 15, 2016) — The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Chicago, (521 N. Rush St.) announces Scott Stuckey has been appointed general manager, effective immediately. Bringing more than 27 years of hospitality experience to the role, Stuckey will be overseeing all aspects — from operations to revenue strategy to sales and marketing — of the 300-room luxury hotel located on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. He will also be responsible for managing The Gwen’s 15,000 square-feet of meeting and event space, Circa restaurant and lounge, and the hotel’s outdoor terrace, Upstairs at The Gwen.

Stuckey most recently served as managing director of the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, where he led this downtown property to a host of honors, including the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s National Guest Relations Award, and Guest Relations and Community Relations Awards from the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association. During his tenure, Stuckey and his staff also received accolades from Omni Hotel & Resorts for Sales Team of the Year (2015) and Revenue Achievement Honorable Mention (2014).

Stuckey was not only an influential leader at the AAA Four Diamond property for almost five years but was also deeply rooted in local philanthropic efforts through his involvement with the Atlanta Community Food Bank and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He was a fixture in the hospitality industry as well, holding seats on the boards of the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association, and also serving as co-chairman of the Atlanta Convention Collection at Centennial Olympic Park.

Before relocating to Georgia, Stuckey worked three years as general manager of the Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Pennsylvania, where he led the transition of the iconic hotel into the brand’s portfolio. During his time there, the hotel garnered global acclaim and was recognized as one of Travel + Leisure‘s Top 500 Resorts in the World and one of USA Today‘s Top 10 Best Historic Hotels; the spa was also recognized as one of The Best Spas in the World by Condé Nast Traveler‘s Readers’ Choice Awards.

Stuckey’s tenure with Omni Hotels & Resorts spanned almost 12 years, including executive management roles in North Carolina and Florida. Prior to his decade of service with the company, Stuckey spent more than eight years with Marriott Hotels & Resorts in both the U.S. and Canada, and eight years with Stouffer Hotels and Renaissance Hotels & Resorts. During that time, Stuckey — a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Stout — moved up the ranks from assistant front office manager to general manager, holding positions throughout the Midwest, from the start of his career in Itasca, IL, continuing on to stints in Cleveland, St. Louis, and Lisle, IL.
