Thorpe Joins Silverwest with More Than 30 Years Experience in Real Estate Development and Construction
DENVER – February 9, 2016 – Silverwest Hotels LLC, a Denver-based investment and management company, today announced the appointment of David Thorpe as Managing Director of Design and Construction. In his new role, Thorpe will be responsible for overseeing Silverwest’s nearly $40 million of renovation work currently underway at the company’s various hotel properties.
“We are very pleased to have added an experienced development executive of Dave’s caliber,” said Ed Mace, Silverwest’s CEO. “We've been fortunate to have a strong, experienced team of project managers and design professionals who have assisted us with our growth to date. We are planning additional acquisitions and further new developments, so having Dave join us now is timely,” added Mace.
Silverwest is currently planning the renovation of the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort& Spa in Hawaii, The Inverness Hotel in Denver and its three San Antonio properties. In addition, Mr. Thorpe will direct the construction of the Element by Westin in West Des Moines, Iowa, scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2016.
Prior to joining Silverwest, Thorpe most recently served as vice president of Shaw Construction in Denver. His career also includes positions as Development Executive overseeing a large urban mixed-use project in Denver, and Vice President of Development for Vail Resorts Development Company. At Vail Resorts, Thorpe oversaw the redevelopment of Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club and worked on the development of The Arrabelle at Vail Square, a 500,000-square-foot mixed-use development and luxury hotel. He also provided technical construction support services to Rockresorts for renovations and hotel capital expenditure projects.
