Sydney, Australia – Following another year of continued expansion and solid growth, the global hotel industry’s leading cloud platform, SiteMinder, is celebrating its 10th year of providing disruptive technology to hotels. More than 23,000 hotels today use SiteMinder’s cloud-based solutions to acquire guests online, and the company says its trajectory remains strong as the booking landscape for hotels becomes evermore complex.
Among those hotels is Park Hyatt Sydney, which adopted SiteMinder’s Channel Manager in 2011 to gain greater control of its property online.
“For hotels now, it’s very difficult to see the full picture of where we’re being sold and how we’re being sold. It used to be very straightforward. One of the things we like and have seen so much from SiteMinder over the years is its ability to shift and adapt to changing conditions in the industry – and to innovate and bring that innovation to us, the hoteliers,” says Park Hyatt Sydney’s director of revenue management, Oliver Ruf.
SiteMinder’s managing director, Mike Ford, says, “There are few industries as hyper-connected and dynamic as the industry of travel and hospitality. The vision for SiteMinder from the beginning was to break down international boundaries and challenge the complexities of legacy models that fundamentally hinder the way travel is distributed and sold. It was about giving hoteliers the chance to focus on the guest again while we power the technology that sets them up for success, and, ten years on, we’re proud and privileged to have more than 23,000 hotel customers that see the tangible benefits of using our solutions.”
Mike Ford founded SiteMinder in 2006 with chief technical officer Mike Rogers. SiteMinder became the first Australian-headquartered technology company to be backed by Silicon Valley’s Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) in 2014, joining the likes of Facebook, Netflix and LinkedIn as a TCV investment. In early 2016, H2 Ventures and Investec ranked it among the 20 greatest pioneering technology companies to come out of Australia and New Zealand.
SiteMinder enables both independent hotels and chains to attract, reach and convert guests, with more than 500 people located in Bangkok, Cape Town, Dallas, Galway, London and Sydney. SiteMinder’s customers now generate more than 43.5 million reservations and US$16 billion in revenue using the company’s proprietary solutions which include The Channel Manager, the hotel industry’s most widely-adopted channel management platform; TheBookingButton, an Internet booking engine for hotels to facilitate direct bookings; Canvas, the intelligent website creator for independent hoteliers; Prophet, a real-time market intelligence solution that takes the guesswork out of pricing rooms; and GDS by SiteMinder, a single-point of entry to the world’s travel agents and major global distribution systems.
