With over 25 years of experience working in the hospitality industry, Richter brings his expertise to Sofitel Chicago with the goal to provide consistently exceptional service to the hotel’s guests through its welcoming, attentive team.
Richter earned the rank of Captain in the German Air Force Academy before deciding to pursue his Hotel Management Diploma from the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg, Germany. Having started his hospitality career as a management trainee with IHG Hotels, Richter was drawn to the industry because it allowed for global deployment and relocation, as well as cultural variety.
Originally from Hamburg, Germany, Richter is now in the process of moving full-time to Chicago from Dallas with his family. Prior to joining the Sofitel Chicago team, Richter held management positions at luxury properties around the world, including Fairmont Dallas, Swissôtel Bremen in Germany, Fairmont Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Fairmont Olympic, Seattle, Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, Switzerland, and more. Through managing various properties across the globe, Richter values learning about his colleagues’ cultures and perspectives and strives to apply that knowledge to provide top customer service.

During his tenure at Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, Switzerland, Richter was named “Best Director of Front Office in Switzerland” by the renowned Bilanz Magazine.
