The hospitality division has drawn on substantive data and consumer insights for the preparation of the refurbishment and upgrading programmes."
At the media briefing, the Group also announced and elaborated on the temporary full-closure of the Sunway Pyramid Hotel East, starting today and will be re-opened in the first quarter of 2017 following a 10-month refurbishment work which will elevate the hotel from a superior to a deluxe category 4-star international-class hotel. Located at the heart of the integrated development of Sunway Resort City, the Sunway Pyramid Hotel East's room inventory will also increase to 564 rooms from the current 549, incorporating 22 new family rooms and suites (570 sq. ft. – 646 sq. ft.), purpose-built to accommodate a growing number of family and leisure travellers to the destination. The new family rooms will be amongst the hotel's largest, offering comfortable spaces, useful amenities, added extras like two bathrooms and options of bedding types which can accommodate up to six persons.
Each guestroom and suite in the new Sunway Pyramid Hotel East will include convenient touches and technology improvements such as complimentary Wi-Fi and wired broadband internet access, smart lighting, bedside USB charger outlets, 42" LED Smart TV with satellite news, sports and movie channels, flexible workspaces, high pressure walk-in shower, ample closet space, in-room electronic safe box, minibar and coffee and tea making facilities; complemented by enhanced facilities and technology upgrades.
Designed to attract the highly valued corporate and leisure traveller from around the region, the concepts and inspirations for the new Sunway Pyramid Hotel East were a result of months of customer focus groups, data insights and design simulations in realizing a more functional and efficient design. Richness of colour soars with refreshing colour palette of red, orange, yellow, white, silver and brown hues used dramatically on feature wall panels and coverings that blends natural design textures with natural granite and wood veneer wall panels using new modern technology material like composite fiber column cladding, perforated metal plate with lit-acrylic panels, wood lattice finishes, glass with decorative film as wall finishing. Designed by Sunway Design Sdn. Bhd., the renovation will include a complete transformation of the hotel's driveway, main lobby, food and beverage kiosk area, lift landings, guest floor corridors, guestrooms, bathrooms and back of house spaces.
Opened in July 2004 as Pyramid Tower Hotel, the Sunway Pyramid Hotel East's large-scale refurbishment aligns to the divisional strategy in meeting the increased demand for higher quality accommodations as business and leisure travel to the integrated destination of Sunway Resort City continues to grow.
"Hotels are central to complementing our township and integrated developments across Malaysia to unlock greater value for our stakeholders especially discerning customers and tourists who are looking for more holistic offerings in any destination," Sarena Cheah added.
