In July 2019, the Grand Hotel Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz (Switzerland) will reopen after extensive renovations:

Complete Renovations mark 150 years of the Bad Ragaz Grande Dame

Bad Ragaz, 13th March 2018 – After over 20 years of ageing gracefully it is time for a complete renovation: the Grand Hotel Quellenhof, which opened in 1869, will open once again in July 2019 to celebrate its 150th anniversary after 5 months of renovations. This complete overhaul to be undertaken by the renowned architect Claudio Carbone, points to the future and is part of an extensive investment programme of around 40 million Swiss Francs. Between February and June 2019 during the planned phase of renovation, all other areas of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz will remain open.

Grand Hotel Quellenhof is considered as the leading Wellbeing & Medical Health Resort in Europe. Numerous statesmen, film stars and members of royalty have stayed in the 106 luxurious suites. The five-star hotel in Bad Ragaz represents a figurehead among the top hotels in Switzerland. CEO Patrick Vogler and Marco R. Zanolari, General Manager of the Grand Hotels, are guiding their "Grande Dame" into a new era. The forthcoming renovations in 2019 will complete the vision to become "the" leading European Grand Hotel.

The aim is to achieve this by completely rebuilding the lobby and bar, a new innovative restaurant concept and air-conditioned hotel rooms with an attractive, contemporary décor. The international response to the architectural competition to modernise the hotel was enormous: entries to create the "new" Quellenhof came from New York, Madrid and Dubai, among others. The Swiss architect firm "Carbone Interior Design" finally won the contract. They had already designed the Spa Suites at Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, which opened in 2009.

"Trust yourself and your feelings – then ambience, interiors and design will emerge", according to a theory of Claudio Carbone, the creative head. He definitely has the confidence – thanks to his wealth of ideas he was also recently assigned the creation of the family spa, planned for April 2018.

The renovation of the Grand Hotel Quellenhof is the next stage in the investment programme of some 40 million Swiss Francs. "For us this is a clear recognition of the Heidiland region as a tourist destination and of Bad Ragaz itself. We are convinced that we can continue to strengthen our market positioning", states CEO Patrick Vogler about the project. He also considers it important to add momentum to continued investment in the resort town Bad Ragaz and tourism in the region. In Marco R. Zanolari, Vogler has an experienced General Manager at his side, to forge ahead with great enthusiasm and new ideas.

During the renovation period between February 2019 and the end of June 2019 the rest of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz will remain open: including Grand Hotel Hof Ragaz, the Spa Suites, the Thermal Spa, the Medical Centre and Clinic Bad Ragaz, Tamina Therme Thermal Baths, the Casino and the golf business.
