RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Terranea Resort – a luxury 582-room oceanfront resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula – has named longtime hospitality industry veteran Troy Wood, CMP, its new director of sales. In his new position, Wood takes charge of developing, overseeing and coordinating all sales initiatives for the acclaimed Mediterranean-style resort, a premier meeting and event destination for executive board retreats, high-level corporate meetings, exclusive events and other professional activities.
The 102-acre resort encompasses world-class accommodations, The Links at Terranea, an award-winning spa, eight dining venues and over 135,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor multifunctional spaces in a majestic oceanfront setting. With the capacity to host receptions up to 1,500 guests, Terranea offers a plush 18,000-square-foot main ballroom, a smaller ballroom, 33 meeting rooms, executive board rooms and hospitality suites overlooking the vivid blues of the Pacific Ocean. Lush gardens and manicured oceanfront lawns complete the wide-ranging event offerings.

Most recently the director of sales at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club and Spa – a luxury golf resort in Carlsbad, just north of San Diego – Wood is now a key member of Terranea’s dynamic sales and marketing team. According to Ralph Grippo, president of Terranea, Wood is a vital addition to the resort’s executive team. “With a full range of industry experience, especially in the luxury golf resort arena, Troy is a dynamic sales leader. He will play an essential role as we work to further Terranea’s growing reputation as Southern California’s premier oceanfront destination resort and a top dominating performer within the group and business sectors.”
With more than 15 years of hospitality industry experience, Wood had a long tenure with Hyatt and was director of sales and marketing at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in New Mexico and assistant area director of sales at Grand Hyatt San Antonio and Hyatt Regency San Antonio in Texas. His extensive experience also included working as director of catering and events at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio and as director of catering and convention services for the Hyatt Regency Jersey City.
A certified meeting professional, Wood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel, restaurant and institutional management from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia, and studied hospitality management at César Ritz Colleges in Le Bouveret, Switzerland.
