(CHICAGO, IL; May 8, 2017) — The Gwen (521 N. Rush St.), a Luxury Collection Hotel, today announces the completion of the hotel’s full renovation; revealing newly designed guestrooms, suites and public spaces. Paying homage to pioneer Chicago sculptor Gwen Lux, The Gwen’s new rooms and public spaces provide guests an elegant art deco experience filled with 1930’s extravagance and subdued sophistication.
“The Gwen takes guests back to the golden era of travel in Chicago,” said Director of Sales and Marketing, Marcus Cornelious. “Our new rooms add a new inviting and distinctive element to guests’ travel experience. The updates provide a nice tribute to Gwen Lux’s artistic vision – our guests will be captivated by the luxury art-deco concept from the time they enter the lobby all the way to their rooms.”
The renovation of the guestrooms include an understated mink grey color palette accented with a Gwen Lux design above the headboard, ample living space, and comfortable beds lined with high quality linens. In addition, all king-bed rooms come standard with a large soaking tub and adjacent glass-enclosed steam shower. For those looking to work out while visiting, The Gwen offers a fully equipped gym which includes brand new cardio and strength machines, multiple TV screens and complimentary fruit.
With 311 guestrooms and 34 suites, there’s one suite in particular that makes a stay at The Gwen especially memorable. The ‘masterpiece’ of the renovation is the Gwen Lux Suite which sits high atop the hotel overlooking Michigan Ave. This suite includes one of the largest private outdoor terraces in all of Chicago (1,100 sq. ft.) for guests to take in both, the magnificent city skyline and serene lakefront views. The hotel expects the suite to be booked regularly for celebrity stays, wedding events and business retreats. Guests staying in the Gwen Lux Suite can expect bespoke amenities and offerings, including a forthcoming butler service.
“The Gwen Lux Suite is everything you could ever want in a big city suite; whether it’s for a night stay, small wedding or exclusive corporate event,” said Cornelious. “The outdoor terrace alone is bigger than many apartments in Chicago. The total Gwen Lux Suite experience is unlike any other hotel suite in Chicago right now.”
Adding to the hotel’s city-centric elegance are the property’s two dining concepts: the Upstairs at the Gwen, the fifth-floor outdoor terrace with fire features and sweeping views of the city; and the Gwen’s Circa Lounge, offering all-day dining and weekly musical programming. Guests looking to explore the retailers of the neighboring Shops at North Bridge have easy access via an indoor walkway, directly connecting the two properties.
The Gwen also caters to business and corporate event travelers looking for a posh big city retreat. Located in the heart of Chicago off Michigan Ave., the 4-star-hotel encompasses more than 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting spaces while providing high quality service from some of the most experienced hospitality staff in Chicago.
“Everyone here is extremely excited about the property; we feel we have something special in terms of interior design and luxury accommodations. We’re looking forward to sharing our excitement about the new renovations with guests from all over the world,” said Cornelious.
