BOSTON, MA (August 10, 2015) – The Langham, Boston is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander Valencia to the position of Director of Food & Beverage. This newly-created position will oversee all three culinary outlets at the luxury hotel, located in downtown Boston – BOND restaurant | lounge, serving locally-influenced cuisine and craft cocktails; Café Fleuri, which serves breakfast and lunch, and is famous for its Saturday Chocolate Bar and Sunday City Brunch; and The Reserve, a refined lobby lounge, serving continental breakfast, The Langham Afternoon Tea by Wedgwood, and a stellar selection of Champagne, wine and beer throughout the day and evening. Alex will also oversee banquet operations and Private Kitchen, The Langham’s in-room dining program.

Alex brings to The Langham 14 years of international and domestic hospitality experience. Prior to joining The Langham, Alex was most recently the Assistant Food & Beverage Director at the Rosewood Crescent in Dallas, TX, where he was responsible for directing food & beverage operations for 10 individual outlets, and over 30,000 square feet of meeting space in a 220-room luxury hotel.

During his tenure with Rosewood, Alex was also part of the pre-opening team for the Rosewood Abu Dhabi in 2013. Prior to that he spent four years working for Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts – as the General Manager of EDGE Restaurant & Bar at the Four Seasons Denver, where he also introduced Level 3, a rooftop pool bar concept voted by Frommers.com as one of the best new hotel rooftop bars in the world; Food & Beverage Manager of The Beverly Wilshire, a Four Seasons Resort in Beverly Hills, CA: Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at the Four Seasons, Vancouver; and Assistant Banquet Manager at the Four Seasons Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, CA. Alex’s impressive resume also includes two years as the Director of Operations at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, The Shores Restaurant and The Marine Room in La Jolla, CA; and three years as Food & Beverage Manager of The Westgate Hotel in San Diego, CA. Early in his career, Alex worked as a pastry chef and server at St. Gilgen in Austria.

Alex is a graduate of Tourism College Klessheim in Salzburg, Austria, from which he received a bachelor of science degree in Hospitality Management; and the University of Pittsburgh, from which he received an associate’s Degree. Although he has spent the majority of his career oversees and on the West Coast, Alex is a native of the Northeast, born and raised in New Jersey.
