SHANGHAI — August 18, 2021 — The PuLi Hotel and Spa (The PuLi), the acclaimed luxury property managed by Urban Resort Concepts (URC), is pleased to announce Mr. Olivier Zatka has been appointed General Manager, effective July 2021. The PuLi is China’s first luxury urban resort, with 193 rooms and 36 suites. The hotel is renowned for its refined aesthetic, luxury with 24-hour dedicated Guest Service, Michelin-starred restaurant PHÉNIX, a state-of-the-art wellness center and UR Spa.
With more than 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Zatka’s experience spans Europe, North Africa and Asia-Pacific. Initially starting his career at Sofitel Royal Casino in Cannes, following which he took up positions at Hotel Hermitage in Monte-Carlo and La Mamounia in Morocco as Director of Food & Beverage leading over 300 employees and managing Michelin-star restaurants. In 2016, he was appointed Hotel Manager at the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo where he was responsible for leading 8 restaurant outlets including “Le Restaurant Joël Robuchon”, a 2 Michelin-stars establishment and “Le Yoshi”, a 1 Michelin-star Japanese restaurant as well as the world-renowned Spa by Givenchy. Under his leadership, the hotel earned awards including 2016 Condé Nast Traveler’s Best Hotel in France & Monaco and Best European Leading Hotel by World Travel Award.
His most recent position began in 2018 as Executive Assistant Manager at The St. Regis Hong Kong as part of the pre-opening team and was later promoted to Hotel Manager in September 2020. Responsible for redefining the brand’s rituals and restaurant outlets’ concept creation, through his leadership, he led the team to achieve Michelin-star recognition within 8 months of opening in both signature restaurants L’Envol and Rùn as well as other highly esteemed industry awards including five-star recognition in Forbes Travel Guide and Luxury list 50 New Hotels in the World in World Travel Magazine.
Born and raised in Alsace – Strasbourg, France and fluent in English and French, Zatka graduated with a master’s degree at Strasbourg Hospitality School in Hospitality Administration and Management. He was named by the prestigious hospitality award Stelliers as the Food & Beverage Hotelier of the Year 2020 for his leadership and vision. With his extensive leadership experience and impressive track record in driving hotel performance, Zatka will be tasked to accelerate the transformation of The Puli and build the brand as a leading luxury property globally.
