Washington, D.C. (January 5, 2017) – The iconic Watergate Hotel in Washington, D.C. has named Stephanie Rest as the Spa & Wellness Director at the property's new Argentta spa and wellness center. Renowned in the spa industry, Rest brings a wealth of hospitality, travel, and spa experience to the hotel, which reopened following a $200 million renovation in June 2016.
As the Spa & Wellness Director of Argentta – a $3.5 million luxury spa, pool and wellness center that opened in September 2016 – Rest is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the spa, as well as conceptualizing new programming and membership opportunities. In this new position, Rest plans to launch membership offerings to the Washington community and in March will partner with the Washington Spa Alliance (WSPA) for a grand opening party at the annual WSPA Symposium being hosted at the Watergate Hotel.
“We are thrilled to welcome Stephanie Rest to our amazing team,” said Rakel Cohen, Senior Vice President of Design, Development and Communications at Euro Capital Properties and co-owner of The Watergate Hotel. “With her entrepreneurial-spirit, leadership skills, and a commitment to quality service for the community, we know she will be a huge asset to the hotel.”
Rest has led award-winning teams for resorts and spas throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Rest brings to the executive team an entrepreneurial-spirit, leadership and a commitment to quality service for the community. In addition to being a part of the renowned Washington Spa Alliance, she is founder of Caribbean Wellness & Education and creator of Spa Camp, a week-long program for teenagers, that serves as a fun and integrative way to create interest in a spa and wellness career, often resulting in camp participants earning an internship or perusing a technical certificate in spa. She also serves on the International Spa Association’s Speaker Task Force, the Global Careership Committee with Global Wellness Institute and is an Ambassador for Global Wellness Day.
"Argentta, meaning silver in Italian, is a healing and restorative place,” said Rest. “Our spa menu is curated to meet the needs of the traveling hotel guest, as well as residents in the D.C. area. We are returning a sense of community to the waterfront through our membership and wellness programing.”
Argentta is a breathtaking spa and wellness center offering revitalizing treatments, well-appointed amenities, membership packages and intriguing design. Inspired by the Italian word for silver, the name Argentta simultaneously pays homage to the hotel’s original architect, Luigi Moretti, and one of the most powerful healing agents in the world. The 12,500-square foot world class spa includes the hotel’s original indoor pool, which has been meticulously restored for guests to use year-round, as well as a whirlpool, sauna rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness center outfitted in Technogym equipment, six personal treatment suites and one duet suite, steam rooms, a unisex sauna and a nail salon. Guests and members can also take advantage of the gym’s studio space for group or private boot camp-style workouts, yoga, one-on-one strength training, coaching and lifestyle sessions and more.
