Springfield, MA – June 10, 2015 – Thing5 LLC, the trailblazer in modernizing network services for the hospitality industry announced today that it has been officially classified as a GPNS Enhanced Provider by Marriott International. The GPNS Enhanced certification for Thing5 means that in addition to offering its HSIA/WiFi services, it is able to offer converged networking services to any hotel in the Marriott portfolio.
Properties utilizing Thing5 benefit from having a singular IP/networking infrastructure provider property-wide, as well as cost savings, streamlined operations and an overall better guest experience.
Vaughn Melson, CTO & Director of Procurement at Blue Water Developments, commented on his recent GPNS Enhanced installation stating that, “Bethany Beach Ocean Suites is our newest hotel and our goal was to deploy a best in class WiFi network, and handle traffic from all of the IP services and back office data for the hotel. The Thing5 design was a converged network that enabled us to eliminate a significant amount of the low voltage wiring and all of the coax. The backbone communications between the MDF and IDF are routed across a fiber optic network that Thing5 manages. I estimate that $550 per guestroom was saved with the converged network design versus a conventional hotel network design.” Blue Water Development is a developer and owner of resort hotels, restaurants and campgrounds in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
This is the third Blue Water Development hotel that has installed Thing5 solutions. “The network at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites is performing better than expected,” Vaughn noted. “Every square foot of the property has full coverage including the entire beach in front of the hotel. We are happy to be opening on time, on budget and with a best in class network.”
Thing5 is the only single-source provider in the hospitality industry for both transit AND solutions for HSIA, back-office data, VoIP inclusive of in- and outbound unlimited local and long distance calling as well as cloud PBX solutions over a managed network. Thing5 has two Network Operations Centers (NOCs) that provide 100% in-house support for property staff and guests, operating 24×7 for remote and onsite technical support.
