SAN FRANCISCO (January 30, 2024) – W San Francisco, an electric urban oasis located in the heart of San Francisco’s culturally-vibrant SoMa District, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Ossenkop as general manager. Ossenkop was also honored with an appointment to the board of directors of The Hotel City Council of San Francisco (HCSF) – a non-profit trade association founded in 1987 designed to advocate on behalf of the local hospitality community. With more than 22 years of hospitality management experience, he will be responsible for the hotel’s daily operations, ensuring efficiency, providing strategic direction, managing budgets, and supervising staff.
“W Hotels is an iconic brand that holds a unique place in the hospitality market, so I’m honored to lead the stellar team at W San Francisco – a dynamic and lively hotel that is an emblem of this world-class city,” said Ossenkop. “Having more than a decade of experience working for W Hotels across the country, I am thrilled to begin this new chapter in my career by returning to the brand as general manager and will proudly represent the hotel on the Board of The Hotel City Council of San Francisco.”
Most recently, Ossenkop served as general manager at Canopy by Hilton San Francisco SoMa. Jeff initially joined the Canopy brand during the launch of the luxurious Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown, where he played a pivotal role in curating the onsite dining programs. Prior to moving to San Francisco, he served as general manager at The Tremont House – A Tribute Portfolio by Marriott in Galveston, Texas, where he oversaw a full restoration of the 140-year old building during which he enhanced the cocktail programming for the hotel’s historic lobby lounge, curated local music programming to foster a place of community, and developed three new dining concepts with the culinary team.
Ossenkop boasts an extensive background in boutique and luxury hospitality, including a 12-year tenure with Starwood Hotels & Resorts under W Hotels, where he was assigned task force for new builds and transitions in Washington, D.C., Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, and Austin markets. Additionally, he has served on various boards including the board of Moody Gardens Galveston, board of directors for Austin Hotel & Lodging and Galveston Hotel & Lodging, and as an appointed official for The Park Board of Trustees for Galveston, Texas.
Ossenkop has received acclaim for his hard work and accomplishments, including being featured on Galveston’s 40 Under 40 list in 2022, as well as being awarded an honorary commission as admiral in the Texas Navy by Governor Greg Abbott the same year. In 2023 in recognition of his work with the Tribute Portfolio, he was awarded Hotel Opening of the Year under Marriott International National Association (MINA) & Full-Service Owners Conference, and the J.W. Marriott Jr. Guest Experience Award.
