Meetings Professionals Name the “Best Conference Center Category in the Midwest Region”
Racine, Wisconsin, December 2019… Wingspread Retreat & Executive Conference Center has taken top honors in Northstar Meetings Group’s prestigious 2019 Stella Awards. Meetings and events professionals and a panel of judges named this Frank Lloyd Wright-designed facility the Best Conference Center in the Midwest Region. The Stella Awards honor excellence in the meetings industry and distinguish meeting venues from around the globe that consistently deliver quality service and innovation to meeting and event professionals.
With nearly 10,000 votes cast in the United States and globally, honors are awarded in 18 categories celebrating overall excellence, superb food and beverage, professionalism of staff, technology innovations, and other critical aspects of the meetings and event experience.
While in existence as a private facility and home to The Johnson Foundation for decades, Wingspread Retreat & Executive Conference Center opened its doors for public use in 2018. Chris Steffich, general manager for Wingspread said, “Winning this esteemed award is truly a testament to our team’s commitment in fulfilling our mission of creating intimate, inspiring conference experiences that foster collaboration and innovative problem-solving.”
Finalists in each Stella category are determined by industry professionals during an open voting period, while winners are selected by an expert panel of judges overseen by the editors of Northstar Meetings Group’s leading publications, Meetings & Conventions and Successful Meetings.
Chris Steffich noted that Wingspread’s onsite accommodations for up to 40 guests, private culinary services and well-designed indoor and outdoor meeting spaces eliminate the distractions often present in traditional conference environments. “When groups meet here, they can have the entire property and our world-class staff to themselves. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Wingspread is registered as a National Historic Landmark and is located just outside of Milwaukee along the shores of Lake Michigan. The property is also home to The Johnson Foundation.
