SAN ANTONIO—September 13, 2022. Winston Hotels LLC—a leader in hotel development, repositioning, and reuse across the U.S.—announced AC by Marriott’s opening date of October 6th. A once mixed-used office space will be converted to a fully renovated, upscale home of two hotels—AC by Marriott and Element by Westin—and 1 Watson, a rooftop bar and lounge.   Element by Westin and the rooftop bar and lounge are slated to open later this year.

Located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, AC by Marriott and Element by Westin are transforming the space into a sanctuary for savvy travelers featuring modern design details while preserving the original building’s historical character.  The long awaited two hotels and rooftop bar and lounge encompass nearly 300,000 square feet as downtown San Antonio continues to be the leading destination for arts, cultural and convention and business travel.  The project’s total investment is more than $100 million and once fully open, AC by Marriott and Element by Westin will employ approximately 150 individuals.

“We are eager to open the doors of this modern, design driven hotel,” said Michael Dunbar, Marriott AC and Element by Westin General Manager. “Perfectly poised in downtown San Antonio, AC by Marriott will present business and leisure travelers with a new and enticing place of stay.”

AC by Marriott is located at 111 Soledad between Houston and Commerce Streets, overlooking the San Antonio River Walk. It is across the street from Main Plaza and the San Fernando Cathedral, and within walking distance of some of the city’s famed attractions. The hotel rooms at AC will feature stunning views of the River Walk, downtown San Antonio, Hemisfair Park, and the Texas Hill Country.

The AC Hotel features 181 hotel rooms and occupies floors 13-20 of the building. In its first-floor lobby, the AC Hotel will offer a full-service bar featuring soaring, double-height ceilings; expansive wrap-around windows; and custom overhead lighting. The interior design for the space consists of light neutrals mixed with contemporary finishes and warm wood tones, paying homage to the Texas Hill Country and the nearby River Walk. The emphasis is on optimal comfort and utility through elegant design and functional beauty, without distraction. Touted as the perfectly precise hotel, the AC by Marriott boasts everything a traveler needs and nothing a traveler does not need.

In addition to the fourteenth-floor rooftop bar and lounge, both AC by Marriott and Element by Westin will share amenities including a business center; 4,000 square feet of meeting and event space; and an 1,800-square foot complete fitness center featuring state-of-the-art equipment. AC by Marriott will offer guests a lobby breakfast area, bar and lounge, as well as valet and check-in services and a European Buffet style breakfast. The buffet will feature popular breakfast staples—imported French Croissants, Belgian Waffles with fresh berries, and house-made yogurt parfaits with fresh granola. AC’s lobby bar will be open from 4pm-11:30pm Monday-Thursday and 4pm-12am Friday- Saturday for the public.

“AC by Marriott is a refreshing, revitalizing addition to downtown San Antonio, repurposing and adding value to existing infrastructure while providing an exciting point of interest to draw even more visitors to this pulsing, historic city,” said Dunbar.
