SAN ANTONIO, TX—December 2022. Winston Hotels LLC—a leader in hotel development, repositioning, and reuse across the U.S.—announced the Element by Westin’s (Element) opening date of December 20th. The opening of the Element will mark the final phase of opening for the fully renovated, upscale home of two hotels—AC by Marriott and Element by Westin— and 1Watson Rooftop Bar + Lounge located at 111 Soledad St. between Houston and Commerce Streets, overlooking the San Antonio River Walk.
“We are eager to present this transformative boutique hotel to San Antonio,” said Michael Dunbar, the Element’s General Manager. “The Element’s ideal center city location will attract business and leisure travelers alike and will provide guests with an unparalleled travel experience.”
The Element offers aesthetically-pleasing, modern and bright guest rooms that will feature impressive views of the River Walk, downtown San Antonio, Hemisfair Park, and the Texas Hill Country. Each of the 162 rooms will include fully-equipped kitchens including a fridge, microwave, and a stove top. Guests can choose from a variety of room options which are easily accommodating for both long-term and short-term stay guests. Both AC and Element will share amenities including an 1,800 sq ft state-of-the-art fitness center, a business center perfectly suited for remote work, 4,000 sq ft of meeting and event space, and access to 1Watson, the upscale rooftop bar and lounge.
As a brand Element offers a lifestyle brand focused on personal wellness with its Bikes to Borrow program. The program provides guests with access to bicycles in distinctive Element green, allowing them to immerse themselves within the city’s history, art, and nearby bike trails through suggested bike routes around San Antonio. Element encourages guests to explore San Antonio whether alone, with family and friends, or with a furry friend. Additionally, Element features a pet friendly program which welcomes four-legged guests and provides travelers with a signature dog bed, treats, water bowls, eco-friendly clean-up supplies and more for those visiting with pets.
Element by Westin and AC by Marriott will pose as the latest addition to downtown San Antonio’s hospitality scene. The total development encompasses nearly 300,000 square feet and boasts stunning views of San Antonio’s historic architecture and skyline. The project’s total investment is worth over $100 million, and it will serve to revitalize downtown San Antonio and add value to the pre-existing infrastructure. Across the street from the Main Plaza and the San Fernando Cathedral and within walking distance of the city’s famed attractions, it is perfectly poised in downtown San Antonio.
“Equipped with everything a traveler needs and nothing a traveler does not need, Element will consistently drive interest and draw even more visitors to the cultural oasis and historic city that is San Antonio,” said Dunbar.
