However, numerous wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic have affected the market. While the long-term effects of the wildfires have yet to be determined, the local economy remained relatively strong, and the impact on regional visitation from the San Francisco Bay Area and on hotel performance as a whole was relatively minimal, at least until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
