CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 1, 2019) – Today, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Charleston Historic District announced the appointment of Executive Chef Albert Kunco. Kunco has over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry focused on honing his culinary skills.
“We’re pleased to welcome Chef Albert and are fortunate to have a chef of his caliber leading the development of our new culinary program,” said Gary Levine, general manager of the dual properties. “His passion for food and diverse culinary expertise will shine through in our catering and restaurant presentations.”
Most recently, Kunco served as the executive chef at Atlanta Marriott Peachtree Corners. He also has worked in a variety of hotel brands throughout the country. He has cooked at the prestigious James Beard House and holds a bachelor’s degree in culinary arts from Johnson and Wales University.
“I’m honored to join Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Charleston Historic District to develop the new culinary program,” said Kunco. “As a chef, my greatest joy is cooking and seeing guests’ reactions. I look forward to bringing the best of lowcountry regional flavors and fresh local ingredients that Charleston is known for to our menus.”
Kunco will lead the development of a new catering program for group, corporate and social events and launch seasonal menus for the hotel restaurant, bar and happy hour. Centered around the over 8,000 square-feet of catering space the Hyatt Place + Hyatt House offers an elegant venue for meetings, training sessions, weddings and other gatherings.
