CHICAGO and MCLEAN, Va. – June 4, 2019 – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the opening of its newest hotel, the dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown South Loop and Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown South Loop. The new property brings a total of 342 new rooms and suites (many featuring scenic lakeshore views) to downtown Chicago’s bustling South Loop neighborhood along with 95 new hospitality jobs. The dual-brand hotel adds even more versatile options for guests visiting the Windy City, which attracted a record number of nearly 58 million tourists in 2018.*
“The popularity of Chicago and its flourishing South Loop neighborhood is undeniable, and the city remains a top destination for business and leisure travelers from across the globe,” said Bill Duncan, global head, All Suites and Focused Service category, Hilton. “With increasing demand comes increasing competition, but by drawing on our vast experience with multi-brand hotels, we were able bring two of our award-wining brands, their wealth of amenities and an enhanced choice of lodging options to this downtown market.”
Developed and owned by SB Yen Management Group, Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown South Loop is located at 55 E. 11th St. and Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown South Loop is located at 59 E. 11th St., offering guests convenient access to the largest convention center in the country, McCormick Place, as well as Soldier Field, Grant Park, the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and more. The hotel boasts a fresh, sleek, contemporary design featuring floor-to-ceiling windows with many rooms offering spectacular Grant Park and lakeshore views.
For the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown South Loop and Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown South Loop, the multi-brand model drove an efficient building process through shared construction and zoning. Similarly, it delivers day-to-day operational efficiency by combining some of the facilities and back-of-house areas and adding more opportunities to cross-sell across both brands. Hilton is a leader in the multi-brand hotel space, with innovative properties open across the country.
The multi-brand concept also creates enhanced and larger communal areas than what would be standard at a stand-alone property, benefiting both business and leisure travelers. The hotel has a shared 24-hour business center, fitness center and indoor pool for guests to unwind and relax in after a lengthy meeting while encouraging family fun for leisure travelers on vacation. The property also offers flexible meeting space that can accommodate up to 85 people.
In addition to the signature, complimentary breakfast offerings for guests of Homewood Suites by Hilton, the hotel features Mei’s, a refined Asian eatery open to both guests and the public. Mei’s, which denotes “beautiful” in Mandarin, will feature authentic homemade cuisine from China’s renowned provinces, serving the freshest and finest ingredients in traditional Cantonese, Szechuan and Taiwanese delicacies. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers a menu of small plates curated to provide a balance of tastes, textures, fragrances and colors.
Guests of Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown South Loop will have access to The Shop, a 24-hour, grab-and-go retail space, offering an upscale mix of healthy, indulgent and fresh foods, including salads, gourmet snack items and artisanal food offerings, varietal beverages and a self-serve specialty coffee bar. Each guest room boasts the brand’s signature bedding, featuring fresh, white duvets and crisp linens; a spacious and clutter-free work desk with an ergonomic desk chair; and an in-room "hospitality center" with a mini fridge, microwave oven and Keurig® coffee maker. The hotel offers other amenities and services, including complimentary WiFi throughout the property, 24-hour business center with Print Spots™ remote printing and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
