The past 15 years has seen the invention of the original iPod through to the iWatch, self-driving cars, home help robots and 3-D printers. The future is here, but many hotels are failing to keep up with the pace with more than 26% of hotel and bed & breakfast establishments unable to book guests online, according to the latest Travel & Tourism Survey.
Despite the lack of uptake in the hospitality sector, online business is booming for those able to provide an online offering. 50% of operators in the hotel and bed & breakfast industry reported a year-on-year increase in online bookings and mobile restaurant bookings have increased 141% in the last year alone. What’s more, there was 60,000 tweets mentioning hotels in the past year . All this means hoteliers who’s online offering isn’t mobile responsive are being beaten by the competition.
