UNLV’s Harrah College of Hospitality and Agilysys Partner to Promote Learning at Current Campus and New Hospitality Hall
ALPHARETTA, GA. — January 29, 2018 — Agilysys, Inc. (Nasdaq: AGYS), a leading global provider of next-generation hospitality software solutions and services, and UNLV’s Harrah College of Hospitality, today announced that Agilysys is providing their industry-leading property management system, LMS®, for use by students and teachers as part of the hospitality educational program at the college. Installation of the software, training of employees and ongoing support are included in the partnership, allowing the college to provide students an opportunity to practice their skills in real-world settings.
“Rather than a pure focus on theory, exposure to the Agilysys software provides students with valuable insight related to tasks they will encounter in real-world job settings” said Jungsun Kim, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at UNLV’s Harrah College of Hospitality. “Beyond entry-level tasks, Agilysys eLearning modules allow for students to evaluate and analyze key performance metrics from a managerial perspective.”
The wide variety of courses offered at the College of Hospitality prepare students for work in the hospitality industry with both theoretical knowledge of management and deep operational competencies. Consistently ranked as one of the world’s top hospitality programs, UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality’s inclusion of LMS® into its curriculum will allow the students to further practice their skills within guest services and technical efficiency right in the classroom, and give them valuable opportunities to apply their knowledge in a realistic setting.
“We are pleased to partner with the University of Nevada, and always value an opportunity to make a positive difference in the communities we serve” said Rob Jacks, Vice President of Professional Services at Agilysys. “With access to one of the hospitality industry’s premier property management solutions, students will be able to develop essential practical skills and experience the importance of efficient technology when providing a good guest experience firsthand.”
The UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality is opening a new academic building, Hospitality Hall, beginning in the spring semester of 2018. The new state-of-the-art facility will have 93,500 square feet of experimental learning spaces, meeting and office spaces, as well as a rooftop event space overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The extraordinary new building will also include a brand-new computer lab where the Agilysys LMS® property management system will be available to students as an addition to the world-class curriculum offered at the school.
