Mauritius, October 31, 2018 – Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius announces the appointment of Alexandre Giraud as executive chef. Chef Giraud will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of the resort’s culinary department while managing a team of chefs, sous-chefs and stewards. He will also work on exciting new culinary experiences and enhancing the resort’s reputation as an international dining hotspot.

Originally from France, Giraud has over 18 years of fine dining experience and has worked at an executive level for some of the world’s leading hotels across Europe, Dubai, Brazil and Mauritius. Giraud joins Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius after his recent position as executive chef at the five-star LUX* Le Morne in Mauritius, where he was responsible in overseeing 67 chefs. He has also worked at several Michelin-starred restaurants across the globe, including Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier and Auberge de la Fenière in Cadenet.

Giraud values authentic Mauritian cuisine and enjoys preparing dishes that evoke the island’s heritage, culture and authenticity. The chef draws expertise from his extensive travels and highlights the importance of sustainability through various environmental projects, including the introduction of a program, which he designed himself, to reduce food waste.
