Construction Underway for the 78-room Hampton Inn & Suites in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma
August 9, 2013
Aug. 09--EMANN@PVDEMOCRAT.COM -- A recent increase in business related activity for the community of Pauls Valley may not make as big a blip on the radar as larger cities to the north and east, but for all of Garvin County, it's certainly the busiest in the past year. Joining that upturn, at least on the accommodation side of things, is Victor Patel as well as his family, who are helping to bring in their third investment in a major hotel chain, this time a Hampton Inn & Suites. So much a part of their daily routine since he first got into the area by purchasing the Days Inn back in 1992 as well as the construction of Comfort Inn ba
Restoration of the Historic Belleview Biltmore Hotel in Belleair, FL Bleak; City Concedes to Options
August 8, 2013
Aug. 08--BELLEAIR -- Conceding that options for restoring the historic Belleview Biltmore hotel look bleak, the Belleair Town Commission on Tuesday directed city staffers to explore zoning changes that would allow other types of development on the property. The hotel's owners want to tear down the landmark, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, and erect 32 townhomes and 136 condominiums. But first, they wanted to know if commissioners would be receptive. Under BB Hotel LLC's proposal, the project would feature two-story townhomes with rear parking garages and seven floors of condos over ground-floor parking, architect J

August 7, 2013
Aug. 07--Plans are underway to spruce up the Metropolitan Hotel and its vacant annex building on Hilton Head Island, according to hotel officials. The annex, which has accrued more than $4,300 in fines for fire-code violations this spring, has been cleared, and the company will begin soliciting bids this week for a new roof, said general manager Chris Roberts. Plans to revamp the hotel's 76 rooms could also be completed this month, and construction could begin in October, he said. Owners of the hotel, which has garnered complaints from Forest Beach residents about its dilapidated appearance, announced plans in June to renovate it and co

99-room Hampton Inn and Suites to be Built on Former Evergreen Airport Site in Vancouver, Washington
August 7, 2013
Aug. 07--Hotel construction will soon be underway at Vancouver's former Evergreen Airport, work that could usher in other development as part of a long-planned mixed-use project. Crews have started preliminary work on a 99-room Hampton Inn and Suites on the northeastern boarder of the site. The 59-acre tract is on the northeast corner of Southwest Mill Plain Boulevard and 136th Avenue. The airport was closed in 2006, then purchased by Seattle-based Opus Northwest, which planned a "lifestyle" development of large and small retailers, offices, a hotel and housing. Those plans fell by the wayside as the economy faltered. The airport was pu
Development Proposals Considered for Knoxville, TN Supreme Court Site Include Hotel
August 7, 2013
Aug. 07--Editor's note: This story has been corrected to provide an accurate investment figure. A student-housing firm from Georgia is part of the team that's in the driver's seat to redevelop a prominent site on Henley Street. Earlier this year, the city sought proposals to redevelop the former Supreme Court site, which is located across Henley from the Knoxville Convention Center. Five groups submitted proposals, and a city evaluation committee has given top marks to the proposal from Gateway Knoxville, LLC, whose team includes Georgia-based student housing firm Academic Privatization LLC and Chicago-based Harrison Street Real Estate

Service Excellence: Find a Way To Make It Happen / Bryan Williams
B.Williams Enterprise | August 6, 2013
"As long as it is legal, ethical, and moral, find a way to make it happen". That was the directive which was programmed into my brain very early in my career. I remember it vividly. It was on my first day of work at new employee orientation at the Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas in 1996. The general manager passionately spoke about the need "to move heaven and earth to delight" our guests and creating memorable experiences everyday. Although I worked in a luxury property before, it was obvious that this was another level of service excellence altogether. I love exceptional service, and I love people who are passionate about giving exceptional
