SANTA MONICA; CA – June 17, 2021 – The iconic oceanfront Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica ushers in its historic 100th year in operation with a stellar new team of senior-level appointments led by Sam Jagger as the property’s new General Manager, along with Amy Funke as Director of Marketing, and Carla Ortiz as Director of Talent & Culture. These new additions will work alongside existing leadership team members including Executive Chef Jason Prendergast, who leads the property’s locally-sourced, farm-to-table FIG Restaurant.
Led by hospitality industry veteran, Sam Jagger was previously the Managing Director and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mr. C Hotels for 10 years before taking the helm at the landmark property and Santa Monica mainstay. His breadth of experience includes overseeing several luxury properties in Miami, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles with the Morgans Hotel Group and Palms Casino Resort. As the General Manager of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows, Jagger brings decades of hospitality experience that enhance the operations and overall guest experience.

To support Jagger in his dynamic new role, the property’s new Director of Marketing Amy Funke leads strategic marketing oversight for the property, bringing nearly a decade of experience to the table, having most recently opened and served as the Director of Marketing and Communications at InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown and Director of Marketing at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Carla Ortiz has recently stepped into her new role as Director of Talent & Culture, spearheading the ongoing strategic approaches to promoting positive colleague relations, alongside the fostering of an encouraging environment for the hotel staff including most recently as Director of Human Resources for Proper Hospitality in San Francisco in her previous role.
Rooted in heritage and harvested in Santa Monica, the new team members join Executive Chef Jason Prendergast who leads FIG Restaurant’s dining initiatives by combining modern cooking and classic French techniques to produce simple and elegant fare, with 75% of all produce locally sourced at the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market.
As an extension of the stellar team of seasoned leaders, Mark Humphrey of Xperience Factory is consulting with the Fairmont Miramar as the property’s Creative Director creating prominent activations and immersive guest experiences stemming from his impressive creative career serving as past lifestyle and trend photographer for THE FACE Magazine and Executive Producer for Quentin Tarantino’s (A Band Apart) production company.
Steeped in Hollywood glamor, history, and healthy dose of relaxed beach attitude, the iconic hotel has undergone an extensive redesign of the Lobby Lounge, FIG restaurant, and The Library under Humphrey’s direction and coordination bringing creative agency Household Design to the table. Household Design have designed and delivered a new look and feel of indulgent and playful interior spaces that offer guests inspired choices for every mood and occasion.
