October 26, 2015 (Austin, Texas USA) – In continuance of its fundamental mission to support hospitality-focused education, Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) has announced the creation of the Agnes DeFranco, Ed.D., CHAE Scholarship. The scholarship, named in honor of DeFranco an HFTP Global Past President, resides at the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. To seed the scholarship, HFTP is donating US$25,000, which will be matched 100 percent by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
“The success of the hospitality industry is largely dependent on the talent of its future professionals, and that is why HFTP has long supported educational endeavors,” said Frank Wolfe, CAE, HFTP CEO. “Agnes exemplifies the importance of hospitality education. She is a long-time educator and mentor to countless up-and-coming hospitality professionals, as well as champion of HFTP.”
Agnes DeFranco, Ed.D., CHAE is a distinguished chair and professor at the C.N. Hilton College. She also served on the HFTP Global Board and was HFTP Global Past President from 2006–2007. In addition she was awarded the HFTP Paragon Award in 2009. She is also the author of numerous research reports on topics of club and hotel finance and mobile technology.
