WASHINGTON, D.C.– Jon Benson is appointed General Manager, Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. effective immediately. Benson will oversee the operation of the luxury 216-room hotel, including its landmark restaurant Blue Duck Tavern. Located in the fashionable West End Georgetown neighborhood of the nation’s capital, Benson joins Park Hyatt Washington as the hotel marks its 30th anniversary.
A seasoned hospitality executive, Benson comes to Park Hyatt Washington with over 29 years of experience with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, most recently in Florida where he was General Manager, Hyatt Key West Resort and Spa.
Having started his Hyatt career in culinary, Benson rose through the ranks becoming Executive Chef at Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino and was later promoted to Hyatt resort properties in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Beaver Creek, CO and Florida. In 2010, Benson was named Director of Culinary Operations for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, based in Chicago.
“Jon’s creativity and leadership are two of the very many qualities that make him the talented executive he is. In addition to his strong business acumen, Jon knows how to inspire and drive a sense of community internally among the colleagues he works with, and is able to parlay that magnetism in the local community as well. I look forward to watching Jon lead the property in delivering the highly attentive personal service the Park Hyatt brand and Park Hyatt Washington are renowned for,” said Marc Ellin Senior Vice President of Operations, Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
