Learn how to better align sales efforts to take advantage of new group business from the former Vice President of Training and Development at Conference Direct

Washington, D.C. (May 6, 2015) – The Knowland Group, the largest data company in the global meeting and event industry, announced today that it will host complementary online webinars on “Understanding Third Party Planners,” further expanding its training dedicated to the art and science of meeting and event sales.

The training on this topic, which was offered last year by Knowland as well, was one of the most highly attended webinars ever hosted by the company. It will be offered again this month as part of the core training and will be available to both customers and to non-customers through The Knowland Group’s online training platform, Knowland University. The goal of the training is to provide a better understanding of how third parties operate, the differences among the major third parties, why their customers utilize their services, and how to establish and capitalize on relationships with third party planners.

The trainer hosting the classes is Jim Vandevender, a hotel industry veteran with over twenty years of experience working for Hilton, Hyatt, and Le Meridian Hotels in a variety of sales capacities including on-property as well as national sales positions. Jim was also Vice President of Training and Development for seven years at Conference Direct, one of the largest third parties, making him uniquely qualified to share his inside knowledge of third parties. “Many hotels, meeting venues and CVB’s work with various third parties and there is a bit of consensus in the market place that some are better than others or easier to work with than others,” said Vandevender. “And to a certain extent that is indeed very true. This webinar is designed to help those pursuing this business to have more education on what the differences are among them so they can develop a more sound sales strategy when it comes to going after this business.”

For the month of May, Knowland will be making this training class available to the general public. Please visit Knowland’s website (via the link below) to sign up and view the date and time offerings and get a sneak peak of Knowland’s extensive knowledge base.
