March 29– Mar. 29–San Manuel Casino has a new general manager in former Chief Operating Officer Peter Arceo, officials announced Friday, March 29.
Arceo will be in charge of all activity within the Highland casino as well as enhancing the experience for its team members and guests, according to a casino news release.
His official promotion follows an announcement last week that the casino's former general manager, Loren Gill, was promoted to CEO for both the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians' tribal government operations and business operations. Arceo was named interim general manager before being brought into the position officially.
"From the moment Peter joined our team, he has led by example and helped lead the Casino to unprecedented growth," Gill stated in the news release. "On behalf of the Tribe, I am thrilled to officially appoint Peter as General Manager and look forward to continue working with Peter along with his leadership team to elevate San Manuel to even greater heights."
Arceo joined the resort as its Chief Marketing Officer in 2015 before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in August 2018. Some of the things he's worked on during his tenure include launching the casino's player development program and coming up with the vision and foundation of the casino's $550 million multi-phase expansion.
The latter effort is underway and will take years to complete. The first phase is the construction of a six-story parking garage with 2,400 stalls by late 2019; the second phase is the construction of an indoor entertainment venue with 3,000 seats by 2021; the final phase will be a 14-17 story hotel with 450 rooms, a pool complex, spa and fitness center. A completion date for the hotel phase has not yet been announced.
