The Hotel Zags Portland, formerly Hotel Modera, has launched a custom website in partnership with HEBS Digital to showcase its new, out-of-the-box brand. The Portland hotel’s new brand appeals to young, creative travelers through a variety of engaging offerings and services. The Hotel Zags Portland worked with the HEBS Digital team to create a website as welcoming and vibrant as its new voice.
The new website brings the best of Portland to life through custom page designs, including a neighborhood guide — featuring an interactive map and illustrated walking tours — and a page for its complimentary equipment rental service, the Gear Shed. Through the use of graphic elements and vivid animations, both the Portland imagery and copy capture the adventure and liveliness guests can expect during a stay at The Hotel Zags.
“For this design, I was inspired by The Hotel Zag’s abstract art branding concepts,” said Elisa Yi, Senior Designer at HEBS Digital. “I used a ‘broken grid’ layout in which images and copy overlap to create an organic, DIY feel while still remaining cohesive. I also incorporated a lot of thick brush strokes and bright, bold colors throughout the website to evoke the feeling of a painting or work of art and to appeal to a younger audience.”
The Hotel Zags Portland comes to HEBS Digital from Sage Hospitality, a partner of the agency for three years. Other notable projects created through the partnership include The Oxford Hotel, The Blackstone Hotel, and Perry Lane Hotel. With The Hotel Zags Portland, HEBS Digital sought to incorporate the signature Sage Hospitality style, while still capturing the property’s unique personality.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with the HEBS Digital team on more than ten projects over the last three years,” says Britt Estes, Director of Digital Marketing for Sage Hospitality. “They consistently deliver high-quality websites that really showcase our properties’ brand and voice — The Hotel Zags Portland was no exception! I’m excited to continue working with the HEBS Digital team on future Sage Hospitality projects.”
