NISSWA, MINNESOTA – September 2, 2021 – Grand View Lodge, Spa and Golf Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of William Coyle as executive chef. Coyle will drive the culinary operations for the resort, including its seven dining venues and banquet operations.
At Grand View Lodge, Coyle will be charged with overseeing CHAR Craft Steaks, Cru Restaurant and Wine Bar, Northwoods Pub, On the Rocks, Freddy’s Sports Grill, Preserve Pub, Tanque Verde Cantina, Grand Breakfast, and all banquet services.
“We are excited to name Chef Coyle as our Executive Chef” said Donald Lenahan, general manager of Grand View Lodge. “With over 20 years of experience in Hotels, Resorts, Casinos and free-standing restaurants, Chef Coyle’s extensive resume makes him the perfect candidate to lead our team and move our culinary operations to new levels for all of our resort guests and local community.”
Coyle most recently served as the executive chef at Mancy’s Steak House in Toledo, Ohio. Prior to that, he held several posts within Hollywood Casino including assistant executive chef where he oversaw operations for multiple outlets including Forbes Four Star rated steakhouse, Final Cut. Coyle also held notable chef positions at Ameristar Casino in Missouri, Francisco Grande Golf Resort and Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa in Arizona, and many more.
“I look forward to sharing some new flavors, presentations, and seasonal cooking specialties with the folks at Grand View but, making sure I work with as much farm/land-to-table as possible,” said Chef Coyle. “I moved to the Midwest nearly ten years ago and love the flavors here and creating thoughtful and tasteful dishes for our guests.”
While Grand View Lodge is a historic property, having served guests for more than 100 years, recent years have marked a new era with the debut of a 60-room boutique hotel, North, as part of a $50M expansion that also included NorthPark, a new indoor-outdoor recreation center, an intimate chapel, several new real estate developments, and more exciting enhancements to come in 2021 and beyond.
Coyle, a father of four and married for over 20 years to his wife, Kat, is excited to move to the Brainerd Lakes Area. In his free time, Coyle loves to travel and taste local cuisines, spend time with his family and raise his chickens. Coyle started his culinary journey on the Oregon coast learning how to cook land-to-table with ethnic flavors.
