Transitioning six restaurants to Silverware was seamless and the solution is driving efficiencies, eliminating stress, increasing revenues, and boosting employee satisfaction; Visit Silverware in Booth 1737 at HITEC Orlando
Markham, Ontario, June 14, 2022 — Silverware has been selected by Distillery Restaurant Corp. to provide point-of-sale solutions to El Catrin Destileria, Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie, Pure Spirits, Madrina Bar y Tapas, District Pizza, and Distillery Events. Each restaurant is located in Toronto’s historic Distillery District, regarded as Canada’s premier arts, culture and entertainment destination.
“For more than a decade we were using a popular POS system, but once it was acquired by a tech giant, service and support fell off dramatically,” said Stuart Kempston, DRC Director of Operations. “If our networks went down or something happened within the system, we would be on hold for hours just trying to get help. When we did connect to a live operator, the person didn’t know the restaurant side of their software business. We were helpless. Our frustration only grew over time, so when our contract was about to expire, we went in search of a new POS provider.”
With most of the buildings in the Distillery District about 200 years old, DRC was limited to the type of network upgrades that could be made. Then Kempston made a discovery — Charles Frankfurt, a sales associate from the pre-acquired POS company, was now working for Silverware. With Frankfurt familiar with the Distillery District set up and each buildings’ network configuration, Kempston was hopeful that Silverware would be good match. After speaking with several of the top POS systems on the market and researching their capabilities, Silverware stood out from the crowd. Most companies were too small and didn’t have the enterprise solutions needed by DRC. Silverware has the features and functionality DRC requires and more.
“Foodservice personnel are a different breed; they are not always the most technology inclined,” Kempston said. “That’s okay, because we want their focus to be on the front end and treating people well and putting their best food-and-beverage product forward. With Silverware, our wait staff do not need to be concerned about the back end. The POS is easy to navigate – even for the novice user. If you can use a smartphone, you can use Silverware.”
Kempston said transitioning to Silverware was seamless. Staff knew a POS change was coming, but from the first engagement, no one felt intimidated. The implementation team was onsite to answer any questions, and if something was overlooked, they made a fix in real time.
“What used to take hours in our former system takes just minutes in Silverware,” Kempston said. “What I really love about the system is that it doesn’t crash – ever. This is a huge relief, as our previous system would go down often and always at the most inopportune times. Knowing that Silverware is always live creates efficiencies and eliminates stress – something that is critical for employee satisfaction and performance today.”
A Step Above the Rest
Silverware is a leading developer of end-to-end solutions for the hospitality industry. The company takes pride in providing one-of-a-kind technology with revolutionary user interfaces that improve profitability. With Silverware, POS data can be accessed quickly, easily, and remotely in real time to increase efficiency. Even menu changes can be made on the fly.
“Due to today’s supply chain challenges, we find ourselves having to substitute products that are no longer available,” Kempston said. “Silverware makes it easy for our restaurant managers to go in and create new menu items and descriptions in seconds. Not only can we manage substitutions easily, but we now have better control of our inventories, and we can more accurately track and record sales. Silverware has been a giant win for all of us – especially our staff who fully grasped the system with minimal training, and as a result, deliver better dining experiences to guests. Soon we will explore adding Silverware’s contactless payment system to add even more efficiency.”
Michael Thalassinos, Silverware SVP, Enterprise Sales, had this to say: “We are thrilled to see Distillery Restaurants brimming with patrons who are eager to get out and have an in-seat dining experience. We could not be more pleased that Stuart and his team are better positioned to have a highly successful season. Today and every day, Silverware is bringing more to the table.”
