WASHINGTON, DC – January 30, 2023 – Kevin Lalli has been appointed Executive Chef for Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square, as announced by General Manager Karla Erales.
Prior to returning to Sofitel, Chef Lalli was the executive chef for Prime 25 in Colorado Springs, Colorado beginning in September of 2021. During his time at the high-end steakhouse, he increased sales by 25%.
Chef Lalli was the executive chef for Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette square from April of 2018 until the spring of 2021. He oversaw the opening and daily operation of Opaline Bar & Brasserie, in-room dining and banquets while managing a team of 25.
Previously, Chef Lalli was the traveling corporate executive chef for Barcelona Wine Bar in DC from 2016 until 2018. He was responsible for nine restaurants in three regions.
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, he earned an Associate in Applied Sciences, Culinary Arts Degree.
“I take inspiration from visiting new restaurants and connecting with other chefs. DC’s restaurant scene is thriving once again, bringing so much creativity and diversity,” states Chef Lalli. “My food is my greatest form of self-expression. Different foods, cooking methods and presentation, has always been my favorite way of communicating.”
A native of Newport, Rhode Island, Chef Lalli’s fondest childhood memories took place while cooking with his mother, a hobby that blossomed into a celebrated culinary career.
Sofitel Washington DC is situated at the corner of Lafayette Square bordering the White House with 237 guest rooms, including 17 suites, six meeting spaces that can accommodate small-to-mid-sized events, and Opaline, DC’s French bar and brasserie.
