Ithaca, NY, January 12, 2017 – The School of Hotel Administration (SHA) at Cornell University announces that Cheryl Boyer is the new president of the Cornell Hotel Society (CHS) for 2017. Boyer will lead the executive board of CHS, the 88-year-old alumni association that represents SHA graduates in more than 53 active chapters worldwide. Boyer’s 12-month term as president began January 1.
“I am delighted to serve as global president of the Cornell Hotel Society,” said Boyer. “I look forward to continuing to strengthen the world’s most engaging alumni network, and working with our extraordinarily dedicated regional and chapter leaders.”
Boyer will work with her fellow officers first vice president Dexter Wood ’87, second vice president Bill Minnock ’79, treasurer Susan Wood ’87 and secretary Carmel D’Arienzo ’88.
A 1987 graduate of SHA, Boyer has over 25 years of experience in providing consulting and asset management to institutional investors, lenders and other key hospitality industry players. She started her career in hotel operations working with InterContinental Hotels and Accor, has additional consulting experience with Landauer Associates and Laventhol & Horwath, and has since held senior leadership roles with Lodging Advisors, PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Hospitality & Leisure financial advisory practice, and Hotel Partners, Inc. Today Boyer is the chief operating officer of Fulcrum Hospitality, a boutique operating partner, asset manager, and transaction advisor in the lodging and gaming space. The firm has principal investments in hospitality assets, maintains acquisitions relationships with major investment banks and institutional private equity firms, and asset manages or advises on over 10,000 hotel rooms worldwide.
An active Cornellian, Boyer is a member of the Cornell University Council, membership co-chair of the President’s Council of Cornell Women, and has returned to campus to serve as a guest lecturer.
Boyer’s industry involvements include membership in the Hospitality Asset Managers Association and the Lodging Industry Investment Councils, and has served as president of the WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate and of the WX Charitable Trust. She has authored several articles on hospitality and finance topics and has been quoted in the trade and popular press. Boyer has been a teacher at New York University's Center for Hospitality Industry Studies, and has spoken at major real estate and hotel industry conferences including NYU Hospitality Industry Investment Conference, Americas Lodging Investment Summit, and the Lodging Conference.
