Howard Harris, general manager for the Boulders Resort & Spa, announces the appointment of John Maskovich as director of food & beverage. In his new role, he will be overseeing six onsite restaurants including the Palo Verde, the Spotted Donkey Cantina, the Spa Café, the Grill Kitchen and Bar, the Bakery Café, Discovery Lounge, Room Service and the Catering/Banquet staff.
“John is an excellent addition to our management team,” said Harris. “His culinary expertise and extensive industry knowledge will further improve our commitment to world class resort service.”
Maskovich joins the Boulders from Durango Colorado, where he served as director of food and beverage at the Sky Ute Resort & Casino from 2010-2015. Earlier, he held the position of general manager for the Westin Canal Place Hotel, New Orleans from 2008-2010.
From 2002-2010, he served as the director of food and beverage for the River Palms Casino and Tropicana Casino in Laughlin, Nevada where he was responsible for multiple food and beverage operations and later served as general manager. Previously, he was responsible for multiple food and beverage venues with the Aztar Corporation, Golden Nugget and MGM Grand Corporations from 1987-2002.
A seasoned veteran of the restaurant industry, Maskovich’s love for the food and beverage industry began when he was only 15 yrs. old where he learned the culinary trades as a cook. Since then he has opened and developed 42 restaurants for several companies throughout the U.S. He truly understands the valley’s commitment to culinary excellence, he has already recognized a plethora of local talent and he hopes to initiate a culinary internship program at the Boulders in the near future.
